Groundhog Run 2027 : Kansas City, MO
The 45th annual Groundhog Run takes place on February 7, 2027 at Hunt Midwest’s SubTropolis, located at 8300 NE Underground Drive in Kansas City, Missouri. The event benefits children with disabilities receiving services at Ability KC.
Distances and event formats include:
- 5K 3.1 Miles
- 10K 6.2 Miles
- 5K & 10K Tunnel-To-Tunnel 9.3 Miles
- Kids Run distances 50 to 200 yards by age group
The course uses paved underground streets within SubTropolis and is USATF certified for the 5K and 10K distances. Organizers report a consistent venue temperature of 65 to 68 degrees. In-person race offerings are accompanied by virtual options for the 5K, 10K, and the combined Tunnel-To-Tunnel entry.
The Kids Run is an untimed fun run for ages 0 to 8, with participants grouped by age and bibs available at packet pick-up on the days before the event and on race morning. Parents and guardians are allowed to run with their children; groups proceed from the youngest to the oldest.
