Event Overview
The Grizzly Mile and Bear Cub Run is a youth-focused running event held at Riverbend High School in Fredericksburg, Virginia. The event features two distinct distances designed for different age groups and school grade levels. Participants can choose between a timed mile race or a shorter fun run, both taking place on the school grounds and utilizing the athletic track for finishing.

Course Details
The Grizzly Mile is a timed competition open to youth in kindergarten through 8th grade. The race starts in a parking lot, continues behind the school building, and proceeds around the bus loop. The course then returns to the track, where competitors cross the official track finish line. This race is divided into two separate heats: one for female participants and one for male participants.
The Bear Cub 300 Meter Run is an untimed fun run intended for children in 3rd grade or younger. This event starts and finishes directly on the track.
Logistics and Awards
Packet pickup is available on the evening before the race at the main entrance of Riverbend High School near the flagpole, or on the morning of the event at the stadium entrance. For the Grizzly Mile, awards are presented to the top three male and female finishers in several grade-based categories: K-2, 3-4, 5-6, and 7-8.
