Grit Your Grief 5K Run/Walk
The Children's Grief Center of the Great Lakes Bay Region organizes a multi-format running and community event at MBS International Airport and across the region on May 16, 2026. The event includes live and virtual options, a family color run on MBS property, and a spectator pass that grants access to a viewing area and Kid Zone activities.
During the virtual race weeks (May 6 to May 20), participants may complete a 5K on routes of their choice and receive a race packet that includes a medal and T-shirt; virtual packets can be picked up at the Children's Grief Center or shipped for an additional cost. The live 5K on May 16 uses taxiways and a portion of a main runway on airport property; all live participants will be timed. Race packet pick-up is available the day of the live event.
Details about the color run: it is a family event held on MBS property but not on a runway due to FAA regulations. T-shirt availability is tied to registration deadlines; registering by April 24 guarantees a T-shirt. Memorial signs to honor deceased loved ones will be displayed on MBS property during the event. Proceeds will benefit children and families served in the Great Lakes Bay Region.
