GristMill Grind 5K/10K Adventure
The GristMill Grind takes place at Franklin Creek State Natural Area in Franklin Grove, IL on Saturday, September 5, 2026. The event offers two course options and permits running, walking, or rucking.
The course is a technical trail route with multiple hills and an average elevation gain of about 100 ft per mile. Terrain features include ravines, limestone bluffs, forested canopy, sections of gravel road, and creek crossings. The 10K crosses Franklin Creek five times while the 5K crosses twice.

Water is available at the start and finish area and at the midrace shelter on the 10K course. Participants must bring a disposable cup or a hydration bladder because cups will not be provided. T shirts are available for purchase for $20 and are guaranteed for registrations completed before August 15, 2026.
Entry periods and fees listed by the organizer include an early registration window with a lower fee, a later preevent fee, and a race day fee. Proceeds support the Franklin Creek Conservation Association to fund park programs, expansion, and improvements.
