Grim Reaper Running Festival 2026

The Grim Reaper Running Festival is a multi-distance event held at the Grimsthorpe Castle Estate in South Lincolnshire. The event features a variety of endurance tests set within a landscape of ancient woodland and limestone tracks. Participants navigate a fully marked 10 mile loop that includes grass trails, quiet estate roads, and a section along a disused Victorian railway line. The course also passes near the estate lake and concludes in front of the castle.

Available distances include:

  • 10 mile day race
  • 10 mile night race
  • 40 miles solo
  • 70 miles solo
  • 100 miles solo
  • 100 miles relay (teams of up to 5)

The event is designed as a self-sufficient race. While there is an aid station at the 5 mile mark, an area at the start and finish point is provided for runners to store tents and supplies for use between laps. The ultra-distances (40, 70, and 100 miles) have a mandatory kit list and a strict 28-hour cut-off time.

Trophies are awarded to the first, second, and third place male and female finishers in all solo categories, as well as to members of winning relay teams. Entry includes complimentary camping on the Friday and Saturday nights of the event weekend. The event location is near the town of Bourne.
