Griffith Park Trail Marathon Relay & 8K
The Griffith Park Trail Marathon Relay & 8K takes place in the scenic environment of Griffith Park in Los Angeles. The event features a loop course primarily consisting of fire roads and some paved sections. Participants navigate a terrain that includes a 1.7 mile climb followed by flat, winding sections and a sustained downhill portion.
The event offers two main distances:
- Marathon Relay (team-based)
- 8K (individual)
Runners can participate as solo athletes in the individual 8K or join a team for the marathon relay. For the relay, there is a dedicated transition and exchange area for team members. The event utilizes chip timing for accuracy and provides three supported aid stations along the course.
The festival area at the Lower Old Zoo serves as the hub for the event's "Athlete's Village." This area includes multiple DJs, live music, food trucks, and various vendors. Participants receive a short sleeve t-shirt and a finisher medal. Special awards are provided for top finishers in different categories, including cash prizes for Open Division relay winners and age grade awards for the individual 8K.
