The Griffith Park Trail Marathon Relay & 8K takes place on June 7, 2026, at Park Center in Griffith Park (Lower Old Zoo), Los Angeles. The event includes a Marathon Relay (teams up to five) and a 8K individual race. The race was named one of Runner’s World magazine’s "10 Best Races You’ve Never Heard Of" in 2024.
Race details and course
The course uses scenic park trails and varied terrain inside Griffith Park, a park described as more than 4,300 acres with over 30 trails totaling about 50 miles and landmarks such as the Abandoned Los Angeles Zoo, the Observatory, and the Hollywood Sign. The relay is chip timed for official results. Race support includes three aid stations with medical staff (two on course and one at start/finish), post-run food and drinks, multiple live DJs and music, and food trucks. All participants receive a premium short sleeve shirt and a finisher’s medal; relay last-leg runners receive a special anchor badge. The event offers free professional race photos, cash prizes totaling $1,500 for the Open division, and awards for the top teams and top finishers in the 8K.
