Griffith Park Trail Marathon Relay & 8K
The Griffith Park Trail Marathon Relay & 8K takes place in Los Angeles within Griffith Park, one of the largest urban parks in the country. The park covers over 4,300 acres and contains more than 50 miles of trails. The event course passes through scenic areas and challenging terrain, offering views of landmarks such as the Hollywood Sign, the Observatory, and the Abandoned Los Angeles Zoo.
Participants can choose from the following event distances:
- 26.2 Miles (Marathon Relay for teams of up to five people)
- 5 Miles (8K individual single loop trail race)
For the relay event, a team captain registers the group and invites teammates to join. The relay portion is chip timed to ensure accurate results. The 8K event consists of a single loop on the park trails.
The event provides infrastructure and services for runners including three aid stations equipped with medical staff. Two stations are located on the course, and one is situated at the start and finish area. Participants have access to food, refreshments, and several food trucks. Entertainment is provided by multiple live DJs.
All participants receive a finisher's medal and a short sleeve t-shirt. Cash prizes are available for the Open division, while trophies or plaques are awarded to the top three teams in each recreational division. Relay participants also receive limited edition badges.
