Greensburg Thanksgiving Turkey Trot
The Greensburg Thanksgiving Turkey Trot is an annual 5K run/walk held in Greensburg, Pennsylvania on Thanksgiving Day. The event was created by five friends who established a non-profit, Westmoreland Community Sharing, and has continued for more than 30 years. Proceeds support multiple local non-profit organizations and community services.
Registration categories are divided by age: participants aged 14 and over register in the adult 5K, and those 13 and under register in the kids 5K. Online registration closes on November 22; in-person registration and packet pickup take place at the Westmoreland County Courthouse lobby on the day before the event and on race day morning. Participants who register before November 9 are eligible to receive an event shirt and may upgrade to a moisture-wicking shirt for an additional $10.
Race timing is provided through a timing service and only applies if the timing option is marked on registration. Awards include top three overall male and female runners and walkers, top three overall Clydesdale runners (over 200 pounds, runners only), and top three male and female finishers in each age group. The event also features team competition for family, high school, and corporate groups; team applications must be submitted together and received prior to race day to count for team scoring.
