Greensburg Thanksgiving Turkey Trot
The Greensburg Thanksgiving Turkey Trot is an annual 5K run and walk held in Greensburg, Pennsylvania on Thanksgiving Day. The course starts and finishes near the Westmoreland County Courthouse at 2 North Main Street. The event was created by five friends and developed through the non-profit Westmoreland Community Sharing; proceeds support multiple local non-profit organizations.
Online registration closes on Sunday, November 22. Individuals may register at the Westmoreland County Courthouse lobby on Wednesday, November 25 and on race day, Thursday, November 26. Packet pickup is available at the courthouse lobby on the same days. Participants who register before November 9 receive an event shirt; a moisture wicking shirt is available as an upgrade for an additional $10.
The event uses a timing service provided by RunHigh.com. Participants must select the timing option on their registration if they want an official time recorded. Age group categories run from Kids class 13 and under through 70 and over, with standard five-year bands for adults. A Clydesdale category for runners over 200 pounds is offered for runners only.
Awards go to the top three overall male and female runners and walkers, top three Clydesdale runners, and top three male and female finishers in each age group. The event also includes a team Cup Challenge in which the average of the top three team finish times determines cup winners; team applications must be submitted together and received prior to race day.
