Greensburg Thanksgiving Turkey Trot : event overview
The Greensburg Thanksgiving Turkey Trot is an annual 5K run/walk held in Greensburg, Pennsylvania on Thanksgiving Day. The event benefits multiple local non-profits and was established by a group who formed the Westmoreland Community Sharing nonprofit to develop the race; it has continued for several decades.
The event is based at the Westmoreland County Courthouse, 2 North Main Street, Greensburg. Online registration closes at midnight on Sunday, November 22. Packet pickup is available at the Westmoreland County Courthouse lobby on the Wednesday before the event from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and the Thursday of the event from 7:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. Participants who register before November 9 receive an event shirt, with an option to upgrade to a moisture wicking shirt for an additional $10.
Age categories include kids 13 and under, 14–19, then five-year bands through 70 and older; a Clydesdale division for runners over 200 pounds is offered. Awards are presented to the top three overall male and female runners and walkers, the top three Clydesdale runners, and the top three male and female finishers in each age group. Race timing is provided through RunHigh.com; timing must be selected during registration for a participant to be timed.
The event includes team competition for family, high school, and corporate groups. Team applications must be submitted together and received prior to race day; applications will not be accepted on race day. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
