Great White North Half Marathon
The Great White North Half Marathon takes place on Sunday, July 5, 2026, at the Heritage Park Pavilion in Stony Plain, Alberta. It is part of the 33rd annual Great White North multi-sport festival, which also features triathlon, duathlon and aqua-bike events. The running program includes the following distances:
- 5 km
- 10 km
- 21 km (half marathon)
The run course is described as flat and fast, using paved roads and trails with a short section of packed gravel through Stony Plain. The 5 km is an out-and-back, the 10 km is a single loop, and the half marathon consists of two loops. The organizer expects over 1,000 athletes and spectators.
Race details
Race entries include a finisher t-shirt, optional medal, race bib and RFID chip timing with real-time web results. There are four well stocked aid stations on course offering F2C Glyco-Durance in cups, water, cola and gels. Post-race food includes lunch and rolls, and there are draw prizes and medical support on site. Awards are presented to the top three men and women overall.
Pricing listed for the running events is: 5 km $49 (age 10+), 10 km $59 (age 10+), 21 km $74 (age 16+). Early-bird registration offers a free finisher medal and prices increase after December 1. Volunteer positions earn race credit. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
