Great White North Half Marathon and Running Events
The Great White North running events take place on July 5, 2026 at the Heritage Park Pavilion in Stony Plain, Alberta as part of the annual multisport festival. The running program complements triathlon duathlon and aquabike events held during the festival.
Distances offered for the run are:
- 5 km
- 10 km
- 21 km (half marathon)
The course is described as flat and fast, using paved roads and trails with a short section of packed gravel through the town of Stony Plain. The 5 km is an out and back, the 10 km is one loop and the 21 km consists of two loops.
Event features include chip timing with web results, four well stocked aid stations along the course, a post race meal and a complimentary Banded Peak beer at the finish. Participants receive a commemorative technical shirt and a finisher medal. Awards are presented to the top three men and top three women overall. Organizers expect over 1,000 athletes and spectators.
Published entry fees are 59 CAD for the 5 km (age 10 and up), 69 CAD for the 10 km (age 10 and up) and 89 CAD for the 21 km (age 16 and up). Prices increase on May 25 and walk up registration is available until the day before the race. Volunteer positions are available and can earn a run race credit.
