Event Overview
The AJ Bell Great Scottish Run is an annual running event in Glasgow. It features two race distances: a 10k and a half marathon. The event date is 4 October 2026.
The Route
Both the 10k and half marathon routes start on St Vincent Street and finish on Glasgow Green. The 10k route begins with an uphill section, followed by approximately 2.5 km of downhill, with the remainder being mostly flat. The half marathon route includes more uphill sections, particularly in the middle of the course, with the final five miles being a mix of downhill and flat terrain.
Event Details
Participants receive a finisher's medal, an optional finisher t-shirt, and a bag of goodies. Official event photos are available for purchase. A free event day tracking app is provided for family and friends. Race numbers, which include timing chips, are mailed to participants 1-2 weeks before the event. For last-minute or overseas entries, race numbers can be collected from an information point. Baggage buses are available near the start, color-coded by wave, and relocated to the finish area.
Participant Information
Entry is open to runners aged 15 and over for the 10k and 17 and over for the half marathon. A booking fee and a Glasgow Council Environmental Levy are applied at checkout. Free training plans are available on the organizer's website. The event supports numerous charities, including Alzheimer's Society, Cancer Research UK, and Macmillan Cancer Support.
