AJ Bell Great Scottish Run : 4 October 2026
The AJ Bell Great Scottish Run takes place in Glasgow on 4 October 2026. The event offers two distances:
- 10k
- Half marathon
Course and logistics
Both the 10k and half marathon start on St Vincent Street and finish on Glasgow Green. The 10k route begins with a short uphill section, followed by about 2.5 km of downhill and then predominantly flat running. The half marathon includes roughly six miles of uphill in the middle of the course, with the final five miles a mixture of downhill or flat. Road closures and parking restrictions will operate on the route and surrounding areas.
Entry, race day and extras
Entry is open to runners aged 15+ for the 10k and 17+ for the half marathon on event day. A booking fee of £2.50 and a Glasgow Council Environmental Levy of £2 + VAT (£2.40) are applied at checkout. Race numbers with timing chips are posted 1-2 weeks before the event; last-minute or overseas entries must collect numbers at the information point. Baggage buses are provided near the start, colour-coded by wave, and close 15 minutes before waves start; bags are collected at the finish using the race number. Waves may be moved to a slower wave by assembling with that wave; moving to a faster wave is not allowed. The event app offers runner tracking and event photos. Finishers receive a medal, a finisher t-shirt option, and a finisher’s bag. An optional finisher tee can be declined and a donation made to the National Trust Woodlands Appeal.
