AJ Bell Great Scottish Run
The AJ Bell Great Scottish Run is a city-centre running event in Glasgow offering two distances:
- 10k
- Half marathon
Both routes start on St Vincent Street and finish on Glasgow Green. The 10k route begins with a short uphill, includes about 2.5 km of downhill, then is largely flat. The half marathon has more uphill running, with around six miles of climbing in the middle and the final five miles downhill or flat. Participants run past city landmarks, and there is music and entertainment along the route.
Entries are open to runners aged 15 and over for the 10k and 17 and over for the half marathon on event day. A booking fee of £2.50 per entry and a Glasgow Council Environmental Levy of £2 plus VAT (£2.40 per entry) apply at checkout. Race numbers, which include the timing chip, are posted from about four weeks before the event; last-minute or overseas entries must collect numbers at the information point.
Event services include colour-coded baggage buses near the start that close 15 minutes before waves and relocate to the finish for bag collection using the race number, and wave allocation based on estimated time; runners may assemble with a later wave but may not move to a faster wave. A free event app provides tracking, split times and access to results.
