AJ Bell Great Scottish Run
The AJ Bell Great Scottish Run is a city-centre running event in Glasgow offering two race distances. Both races start on St Vincent Street and finish on Glasgow Green, with routes that pass notable urban architecture, green spaces and city landmarks.
Two distances are available:
- 10k
- Half marathon
Course notes: the 10k begins with a short uphill section, includes about 2.5 km of downhill and is largely flat thereafter. The half marathon contains more sustained uphill running for roughly six miles in the middle, with the final five miles a mix of downhill and flat sections. Courses are subject to change and road closures and parking restrictions affect areas around the route.
Event services include baggage buses near the start (colour-coded by wave), race numbers containing timing chips, official finisher medals, optional finisher t-shirts and finisher bags. Race numbers are typically posted about four weeks before the event; late or overseas entries must collect numbers at the information point. Wave allocation is based on estimated time; runners may assemble in a slower wave but cannot move to a faster wave.
Additional features: free event tracking and split times via the Great Run app, official event photos available after the race, free training plans and access to runner discounts through the event rewards platform. Entry rules specify minimum ages of 15 for the 10k and 17 for the half marathon on race day; booking fees and a Glasgow Council environmental levy are applied at checkout.
