Event overview
The AJ Bell Great Scottish Run takes place in Glasgow on 4 October 2026. The event has a city-centre start and finishes on Glasgow Green. Thousands of runners take part each year in the half marathon and 10k events. The event features music and entertainment along the route, official event photos, and a free event-day tracking app.
Race details
- 10k
- Half marathon
Entries are open to runners aged 15+ for the 10k and 17+ for the half marathon on the day of the event. Both races start on St Vincent Street and finish on Glasgow Green. The 10k route begins with a short uphill section, then about 2.5 km of downhill, with the remainder largely flat. The half marathon includes approximately six miles of uphill in the middle, with the final five miles a mixture of downhill and flat. Waves are allocated by estimated time; runners may move to a slower wave but not to a faster one.
Logistics and what runners receive
Race numbers (with timing chips) are posted 1-2 weeks before the event; late or overseas entries collect numbers at the information point. Baggage buses are located near the start, colour-coded by wave, and relocate to the finish for collection using the race number. Finishers receive a medal, an optional finisher t-shirt, and a finisher’s bag. Earlybird and final entry prices are shown for each distance; a booking fee and a Glasgow Council environmental levy are applied at checkout. An option to forgo the finisher tee triggers a donation to the National Trust Woodlands Appeal. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
