Great Pumpkin Classic

The Great Pumpkin Classic is an annual community event hosted at Trumbull High School in Connecticut. This multi-distance gathering has taken place since 1991 and supports the Trumbull High School Scholarship Foundation and the Trumbull Schools PTSA. The event features various activities for different age groups and ability levels.

Physical participation options include:

  • 5k Run or Walk (Computer chip-timed)
  • 1.7 Mile Health Walk (Untimed)
  • Kids Fun Runs (Varying distances on a flat track)

The 5k course consists of a route that is largely based on the original 1991 layout. It includes a mix of flat sections, an uphill segment during the first mile, a downhill stretch between 1 mile and 1.3 miles, and a final hill in the last mile. The 1.7 mile walk follows a flat course throughout. The kids' events are held separately on the high school track and are categorized by age groups for children up to 12 years old.

Participants in the 5k and walk events receive a long-sleeved shirt while supplies last. A post-race celebration takes place outside near the finish line, featuring seasonal snacks such as apple cider donuts, pumpkin mini bagels, and other refreshments. Awards for the 5k event are presented to the top three finishers in various age categories, ranging from 9 and under to 80 and over. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
