Great Pumpkin Classic : 36th edition
The Great Pumpkin Classic is a community road event held at Trumbull High School on 10/18/2026. It features a computer chip timed 5K run or walk, an untimed health walk, and kids fun runs on the school track. Registration is online only; guaranteed shirt sizing ends on 10/4 and shirts may sell out.
The event supports local charities, including the Trumbull High School Scholarship Foundation and Trumbull Schools PTSA, and has donated over $340,000 in scholarships since its start in 1991. The 5K course follows a route similar to the original course with varied terrain, including an early uphill, a notable downhill section, and a final hill before a downhill finish. The untimed health walk is described in the event materials as 1.7 miles and is also listed as 3K. Kids runs take place on the flat track and include a shirt, finishing medal, and snack.
Practical notes from the organizer: baby strollers are permitted, leashed dogs may start at the back and owners should bring waste bags, and there may not be a water stop on course so participants are advised to plan for hydration. Parking is available in several school lots and police will be on duty for participant safety. Awards are issued for the 5K in age groups and overall places. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
