Great Pumpkin Classic at Trumbull High School
The Great Pumpkin Classic is an annual community running and walking event held at Trumbull High School in Trumbull, Connecticut. The 2026 edition is the 36th consecutive year of the event, which began in 1991. Proceeds benefit the Trumbull High School Scholarship Foundation and the Trumbull Schools PTSA; cumulative scholarship contributions since the event began exceed $340,000, with a recent donation of $8,000 noted.
Event offerings include:
- 5K chip timed run or walk with awards.
- 1.7 mile untimed Health Walk.
- Kids fun runs on the high school track with a shirt, finishing medal, and snack.
Strollers are permitted. Leashed dogs are allowed when started from the back of the field; owners are asked to bring their own waste bags. Registration for all events is online only; there is no paper or cash registration on site on event day. Guaranteed shirt sizing ends October 4; organizers note that shirt supply and giveaways are subject to availability and vendor constraints.
The 5K course follows a route similar to the original course, with hills, flat sections, and a notable downhill segment early in the route. Course support may vary; there may not be water stations on course, so participants may need to carry fluids. Parking is available at Hillcrest Middle School and Trumbull High School lots; some driveways will be closed for on-course safety and police will staff key intersections.
