Great North West Half Marathon
The Great North West Half Marathon is a road race of 13.1 miles held along Blackpool's seafront. Event HQ is at the Solaris Centre on New South Promenade, which serves as the hub for registration, bib collection, event enquiries and race information.
The course is a new, flat, accurately measured route that follows the promenade north towards Little Bispham and returns south past North Pier, Central Pier and South Pier to finish beside the Mirrorball. The route uses the seafront carriageway, the coastal pathway and the upper promenade, including a closed northbound carriageway towards Gynn Square.
Race-day facilities at Event HQ include portable toilets, a baggage storage area and a key drop. Staffed water stations are located at 3, 6.5 and 10 miles, with water also supplied at the finish. The event is chip timed and results are published online after the race. Professional medical support is available throughout the event. Official race photography is taken on course and at the finish and is normally available online within 24 to 48 hours.
Transport and parking information is provided for car, tram, train and bus travel to the Solaris Centre area. Organisers aim to make the event accessible; anyone with specific accessibility needs is encouraged to contact the event team in advance. Headphones are permitted but must be used so the runner can hear marshals and instructions.
