Event Information
The AJ Bell Great Manchester Run is a city running event held on the streets of Manchester. It offers two race distances:
- 10 km
- Half Marathon
The event has a large scale, with tens of thousands of participants. It features a festival-like atmosphere with live music, entertainment zones along the route, and enthusiastic local crowds.
The Route
The route passes some of the city's landmarks, including Coronation Street and the Imperial War Museum. The races start on Portland Street near Oxford Street and finish on Deansgate.
- The 10 km route has some downhill sections near the start and a short incline towards the end.
- The Half Marathon route begins with an incline and finishes with some downhill running.
A free event-day tracking app provides accurate runner tracking and access to photos and results.
Event Day Details
Participants receive a medal, an exclusive finisher's t-shirt, and a goodie bag. Official event photos are available for viewing and purchase after the race. The event timetable states the Half Marathon waves start first, followed by the 10 km waves later in the morning. Road closures will be in effect across the city on the day.
Participation and Charity
The event is open to runners aged 15 and over for the 10 km, and 17 and over for the Half Marathon. Participants can choose to forgo their finisher t-shirt at the point of entry, with a portion of the cost being donated to a charity appeal. Many charity running places are available, with Alzheimer’s Society named as the official charity partner for the series. Free training plans are available online for both distances.
