Event details
The AJ Bell Great Manchester Run takes place on 31 May 2026 in Manchester. The event offers two distances:
- 10k
- Half marathon
Entries are open to runners aged 15 and over for the 10k and 17 and over for the half marathon on race day. A booking fee of £3.00 is applied at checkout. Saver and later entry prices are listed for both distances.
Course and logistics
Both races start on Portland Street near the junction with Oxford Street and finish on Deansgate. The half marathon route begins with a short incline and finishes with a downhill section. The 10k includes some downhill near the start and a short incline towards the end. The route passes local landmarks such as Coronation Street and the Imperial War Museum. Several city roads will be affected by event road closures and traffic diversions; a rolling programme of closures will be in operation on race day.
Race services and extras
Waves are allocated by estimated time; runners may join a slower wave by assembling with that wave but cannot move to a faster wave. Race numbers contain timing chips and are usually posted 1-2 weeks before the event; late or overseas entries may collect numbers at the information point on the day. Baggage buses are provided near the start for each distance. The free Great Run app provides live tracking, results and photos. Finishers receive a medal, a finisher t-shirt (optional) and a finisher’s bag; there is an option to forgo a tee in favour of a donation to the National Trust Woodlands Appeal.
