Great Island Adventure Triathlons

This event offers two sprint-distance race formats: a Swim Sprint and an Adventure Sprint. Both take place on Saturday, June 27, 2026. The Swim Sprint consists of a 750m downstream swim, a 10.6 mile bike course, and a 5k run. The Adventure Sprint replaces the swim with a 5k kayak loop, followed by the same bike and run segments.

Participants can compete individually or as part of a relay team. Relay teams can consist of 2 or 3 people and can be All Female, All Male, or Mixed Gender. Each team member registers separately using the same team name. The single, central transition area is located at the Lockport Boat Launch in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania.

Registration for either event costs $80. Participants receive a choice of a long-sleeved race shirt or an athletic towel. Recovery food is provided post-race. Awards are given to the top three teams in each gender category for both races. For individual participants, awards are given to the top male and female finishers, as well as the top three males and females in various age groups.

Safety rules require wearing a PFD (life jacket) while kayaking and a helmet while on the bike. The bike course uses open roads, so headphones or earbuds are not permitted during the cycling segment. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
