Great American Triathlon
The Great American Triathlon is scheduled for July 18, 2026 in Rancho Cordova, California, on the American River Parkway. This is the sixth annual edition of the event and it follows a multi-sport format that traces a historic regional route.
The race format includes three sequential disciplines with the following distances:
- 5.95-mile run
- 12.5-mile bike
- 6.10-mile paddle
The event offers multiple competition categories, including individual Ironperson divisions for adults and juniors, and several relay options: Duo Relay (2 members), Adult Relay (3 members), Junior Relay (2 or 3 members, 18 and under), and Tandem Watercraft Relay (4 members). Relay registration requires the team captain to pay the full entry fee and create the team; team members must complete their own registration after the captain registers.
All finishers receive a Great American Triathlon finisher medal. Event apparel is distributed by size; participants must provide correct t-shirt sizes because exchanges will not be available and sizes are assigned on a first come, first served basis. Participation is limited. The event supports the American River Parkway Foundation and lists a fundraising total and goal for that organization. An awards ceremony is planned at the event expo stage.
