Great American Triathlon
The Great American Triathlon is scheduled for July 17, 2027, along the American River Parkway in Rancho Cordova and nearby points on the river. The Sacramento Running Association organizes the event and the course follows the historic Eppie's Great Race route.
Race legs cover running, cycling and paddling along the American River Parkway:
- Run 5.8 mile route from William B. Pond Park to Guy West Bridge
- Bike 12.5 mile route from Guy West Bridge to Sunrise Bridge in Fair Oaks
- Paddle 6.1 mile route from Sunrise Bridge to River Bend Park in Rancho Cordova
Participants may enter as an individual Ironperson (adult or junior) or as part of relay teams, including duo, adult, junior and tandem watercraft relays. Team captains must pay the full team entry fee and invite members to register. The event is limited to 250 teams and 600 Ironperson competitors.
Entries include an event tee, finisher medal, a food truck voucher, access to a beer garden with live entertainment, free race photos and parking. The race features over 40 divisions with awards for the top three in each category and benefits the American River Parkway Foundation and local children's charities.
Safety requirements specify helmets for all cyclists and paddlers, shoes and a U.S. Coast Guard approved personal flotation device for all paddlers, and that watercraft participants must be able to self-rescue. Only registered competitors may be on the course. Race packets are available for in-person pickup on Friday, July 16, 2027, at River Bend Park; relay packets may be picked up by any team member or mailed.
