35th Annual Grayslake Family 5K & Fun Run
The Grayslake Area Chamber of Commerce hosts this annual community event in downtown Grayslake, Illinois. Now in its 35th year, the race serves as a gathering for runners and walkers while raising funds for student scholarships at local high schools. The event features a scenic route that begins and ends on Center Street, moving through the heart of the downtown area.
Participants can choose from the following distances:
- 5 km (3.1 miles) run and walk
- 2 block Kids Fun Run for ages 5-8
The 5 km course is professionally timed using ChampionChip technology. Awards are presented to the top three male and female finishers overall, as well as the top three finishers in various age divisions ranging from 9 and under to 80 and over. There are also specific categories for male and female wheelchair participants.
The Kids Fun Run is specifically designed for children and includes participation ribbons and refreshments for all young runners. For the 5 km event, race shirts are guaranteed for the first 300 pre-registered participants. Post-race refreshments are provided to all who take part in the event.
The course is clearly marked and supported by local volunteers. Participants should note that rollerblades, skates, skateboards, and pets are not permitted on the course. Packet pickup is available in the days leading up to the race at the Grayslake Village Hall. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
