The 28th Annual Granite Bay Triathlon
The 28th Annual Granite Bay Triathlon takes place at Granite Beach, Folsom Lake State Recreation Area on August 22, 2026. It serves as the NorCal/Nevada Tri Club Championship Race and follows a sprint triathlon format with a lake swim, a multi-lap bike course, and a trail run.
Distances
- 3/4 mile swim
- 11-mile bike (two laps)
- 5-mile trail run
The bike course is a 5.5 mile loop that starts on Old County Road, turns onto the main park road, loops around Oak Point, and proceeds on a rolling, twisty section to the Beeks Bight turnaround. Athletes complete two laps on the bike course before returning to the transition area.
The run course starts from the Old County Road transition area and heads south toward Beals Point. The route passes Granite Main Beach near the half mile mark, continues on a mix of single track and pavement to the first aid station at about 1.5 miles, follows Pioneer Express fire road for an out-and-back section of approximately 1.25 miles, and returns past the mile four aid station to the finish.
The transition area is located in the main parking lot at the north end of Granite Beach. It operates on a first-come basis except for reserved racks for triathlon clubs, is restricted to athletes only, and prohibits glass or bottles. Packet pickup is available race morning at the venue.
Divisions include ten year age groups, Athena and Clydesdale, male, female and coed relay, and Challenged. Awards include overall male and female champion awards and three deep age group awards. The event is the NorCal/Nevada Overall Tri Club Championship, with club champions determined by finisher and podium points.
Entry fees are listed in tiers for individual and relay entries. TBF Racing has a no refund policy; refunds requested before race week are issued as race credit minus a $25 processing fee. Transfers to another TBF Racing event are allowed within one year for a $25 fee. All events are held rain or shine. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
