Course, support and logistics

All courses are out-and-back and start and finish in Kanab at about 4,970 feet (1,515 meters) elevation. The routes cross high desert terrain including hard packed and soft sand, sand dunes, forest trails, red rock climbs, rocky and double-track roads, and canyons. Course highlights include the Coral Pink Sand Dunes, Hog Canyon, Cave Lakes Canyon, Cliffs Trail, Tom’s Canyon, Parunuweap Canyon, Belly of the Dragon, and Diana’s Throne. Wildlife and desert plants may be encountered on route.

Aid stations aim to provide water, electrolyte drinks, soda, hot drinks at night, daytime and nighttime food items, and morning breakfast options. Some aid stations offer shared tent space with sleeping pads and blankets; sleep time at these stations is limited to three hours. Cell service may be unavailable at remote aid stations. Drop bags are limited in size (maximum 12 x 20 x 12 inches), one per runner per aid station, must be labelled, and are returned to the finish when stations close. Camping on-site, tent and RV parking options are available; RV hook-ups are not provided. The entry fee includes branded items and sponsor products; fees vary by distance and registration date. Refunds follow a published schedule with decreasing percentages depending on cancellation date. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
