Grand to Grand Ultra - Kanab

The Grand to Grand Ultra is a self-supported stage footrace that crosses the high desert of the Colorado Plateau in the USA, running from the Grand Canyon region. The event is presented as the first and only self-supported stage footrace in North America. The format for the 13th edition is six stages over seven days, covering 171 miles (approximately 275 km), and it is scheduled for 20 - 26 September 2026.

The course sits at altitude, ranging from about 5,000 feet (1,524 m) to nearly 8,700 feet (2,652 m). Each morning a camp is erected in a new, unique location to receive competitors at the end of the stage. The organisers emphasise water management and note that water should not be treated as an unlimited resource.

The event takes place in remote terrain with limited mobile phone signal. The organisers state that they take risk management seriously and that the route and conditions require competitors to be physically and mentally prepared. In addition to the traditional self-supported category, the event now includes a supported category. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
