Grand to Grand Ultra - Kanab
The Grand to Grand Ultra is a self supported stage footrace across the high desert of the Colorado Plateau. The event for 2026 is scheduled as the 13th edition from 20 to 26 September and is organised as six stages spread over seven days. Total course distance is 171 miles / 275 km and the programme now includes a supported category in addition to the self supported field.
The route crosses desert terrain originating from the Grand Canyon region and runs through remote areas where mobile phone signal is limited. Course altitude ranges from approximately 5,000 feet (1,524 m) to almost 8,700 feet (2,652 m). Each morning a temporary camp is erected in a new location to receive competitors at the end of the day.
Race information emphasises preparation and risk management for travel in remote terrain. The organisers provide guidance on mandatory equipment, rules, hydration and water management, and medical considerations. The event materials note that competitors must be physically and mentally prepared for successive long days of running and for limited external support on course.
