Grand Rapids Road Mile
The Grand Rapids Road Mile is a running event held in downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan. Organized by the Society Track Club, the race takes place on the road with the start located at the corner of Wealthy and Front. The course is situated near 700 Wealthy St SW. The event features multiple waves focused on the 1 mile distance, catering to different age groups and performance levels.
Participants can choose from the following event categories:
- Mini Mile: A 1 mile race open to children aged 12 and under.
- Mile Run: A 1 mile race for the general public with a 20 minute time limit.
- Elite Mile Run: A 1 mile race for participants who meet specific time qualifications.
The Elite Mile requires men to have a qualifying time of 4:45 or faster. Women and non-binary participants must have a qualifying time of 5:15 or faster to enter the elite division.
The event includes spirit stations positioned along the route to support participants. The race site also hosts various local run clubs and companies. Participants in the Mile Run and Elite Mile Run receive a commemorative shirt, while those in the Mini Mile receive a finisher's certificate. Prizes are awarded to the top three finishers in the elite and general divisions, as well as to overall masters winners, overall non-binary winners, and winners of five-year age groups.
