The Grace Race 5K

The Grace Race is an annual 5 km run and walk held at Sloan's Lake Park in Denver, Colorado. Established in 2007 to mark the 50th anniversary of Rainbow Trail Lutheran Camp, the event is organized in collaboration with the Rocky Mountain Synod Hunger Network. The primary objective of the race is to raise funds for the ELCA World Hunger Appeal, an initiative that the event has supported for nearly two decades.

The course is located on the south-central side of Sloan's Lake Park, with the start and finish lines situated near the restrooms and playground at 17th Avenue and Utica Street. The event is open to both runners and walkers of various ages.

Participants can compete for individual awards or take part in the "Fleetest Flock" congregation competition. This traveling trophy is awarded to the church congregation with the highest number of participants present at the event.

Medals are provided for the top three male and female finishers in several age categories, including:

  • 12 & Under
  • 13-19
  • 20-29
  • 30-39
  • 40-49
  • 50-59
  • 60-69
  • 70+

Post-race amenities include fruit, snacks, and burgers for participants. Registered individuals receive a commemorative T-shirt, though availability is only guaranteed for those who enter by the late September deadline. Refreshments are provided at the finish line following the completion of the race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
