GR5K - Midtown Baptist Temple
The GR5K is a community run that offers a chip timed 5K and a Family Mile Fun Run at Shawnee Mission Park in early November each year. The event is available as a live race at the park and as a virtual race for participants who join from elsewhere.

All proceeds from the event are directed to partner organizations that serve children with great need: Hope Family Orphanage in Nepal, Iglesias del Norte in Costa Rica, Hatikva Project in Israel, and the Passion Center for Children in Malawi. The organizers state that proceeds are used to support both physical and spiritual ministries to orphaned and refugee children.
Registration options include live race entry with early bird and regular pricing tiers, virtual registration that includes a mailed event T-shirt, and day of race registration with shirts not guaranteed. Refunds are not available for this event. Additional participation options include a memorial name listing on the race shirt for a fee and multiple sponsorship levels with listed benefits.
