Governor's Cup
The Governor's Cup is a multi-race running event staged in Helena, Montana, in June 2026. Established in 1974, the event includes a half marathon, a 10K, a 5K and a timed mile run. Races take place on courses that use downtown streets and conclude on Last Chance Gulch.
Course notes: the half marathon shares its starting area with the mile, 5K and 10K. Its first three miles follow the 10K route, then continue onto South Hills Road where there are views of the Helena valley, and later rejoin the 10K and 5K routes for a final section along the downtown walking mall. Organizers note there will be no busing for the half marathon and that there are no refunds for cancellation for some events.
The 10K starts near the Holter Museum on Cruse Avenue and finishes on Last Chance Gulch. The 5K begins at Cruse and Lawrence and finishes on Last Chance Gulch. Both the 10K and 5K courses pass views of Mount Helena, the State Capitol and other historic downtown sites.
The mile run is timed and follows a downtown loop that includes a sprint down Cruse, a turnaround near Broadway, and a finish on Last Chance Gulch. Entry fees for 2026 are listed by distance below. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
