Gosfield Triathlon & Multisport 2026
Promoted by Born2Tri at Gosfield Lake Resort near Braintree and Halstead in Essex, this multisport event uses a well known open water swimming venue. The event offers a range of race formats around the lake and surrounding rural roads and paths.
Race options include:
- Standard Distance Triathlon: 1500m swim, 40km bike, 10km run.
- Sprint Distance Triathlon: 750m swim, 20km bike, 5km run.
- Aquabike: 1500m swim, 40km bike.
- Aquathlon: 1500m swim, 10km run.
- Duathlon: 5km run, 20km bike, 5km run.
- Swim Only: 1500m swim.
The swim uses a 750m lake lap with rolling starts; the 1500m distance comprises two laps. The bike course is mainly on rural roads with one or two 20km laps that pass through Sible Hedingham, Blackmore End and Beazley End. Organisers are planning an out and back run route for 5km and 10km distances; if a revised route is not finalised the previous looped course will be used. The run course surface includes paths, grassland and some road footpath sections.
Transition is located on the lake bank. All races are chip timed. First place trophies are allocated by male and female in Open under 40 and Vet over 40 for triathlon and duathlon; first male and female trophies apply for aquathlon, aquabike and the 1500m swim. Each competitor receives a finisher medal and a T shirt. Entry is limited to 300 competitors and entrants must be at least 18 years old.
The event operates under British Triathlon rules. Bicycles must be mechanically safe and an approved cycle helmet must be worn for the cycle section. A contingency and withdrawal policy is in place: refunds up to four weeks before the event are subject to a £10 administration fee, and later refunds are not available.
