2026 Golden Helix 5k
The Golden Helix 5k is a professionally timed open-road race covering 5 km (3.1 miles) around the Tennessee Technological University campus in Cookeville, TN. The course starts and finishes just outside Stonecipher Lecture Hall on Wings Up Way between Stadium Drive and Peachtree Avenue.
Registration for the 5k opens April 10, 2026 and closes October 10, 2026. The standard registration fee for the 5k is $35.00. Register by September 20 to be guaranteed a race day t-shirt. Current Tennessee Tech students may be able to race free if the event is SOLO-funded and they use code AWESOME; students must present a valid student ID at packet pick-up.
All parking on the Tennessee Tech campus is free and available to the public on weekends, and vehicles are not ticketed unless parked in spots reserved for specific uses. Recommended parking for the event is behind the TN Tech STEM Center, along Stadium Drive, near the Laboratory Science Commons and Stonecipher Auditorium.
The race is organized by the Student Affiliates of the American Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology with assistance from the Student Members of the American Chemical Society and the Chem-Med Club. The Tennessee Tech Student Government Association SOLO Fund co-sponsors the event. Proceeds benefit the ASBMB and SMACS clubs and the Upper Cumberland Remote Area Medical Clinic at Cookeville High School. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
