Gold Star Run for Honor : Saugus, MA
The event takes place on May 23, 2026 at Saugus Town Hall (298 Central St). It is an annual Memorial Day weekend run and walk held in memory of a service member killed in action in Ramadi, Iraq. The event has a history of fundraising for local students; each of the last six years it has raised more than $25,000 for high school seniors.

The 5K and 10K courses mix flat sections and rollers with one notable climb; all distances start together, intersect and split at points. Fuel stops will offer water and electrolytes. Strollers and dogs are welcome. The Kids Fun Run circles a shutdown rotary and finishes on Taylor St; pre-registered children are guaranteed a t-shirt.
Packet pickup is race day only at Saugus Center in front of the Town Hall. Participants receive custom race bibs and finisher medals; shirts are guaranteed to those pre-registered by May 10. Awards include overall top three male and female finishers, age-group awards (Under 15, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80+), and top three non-binary. Cash prizes are listed for top finishers in the 5K and 10K. The event runs rain or shine.
100% of proceeds go to a memorial scholarship program providing academic scholarships to high school seniors. Post-race vendors and food will be on site and the Saugus Memorial Day Parade follows. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
