Overview
The Gold Star Run for Honor takes place on May 23, 2026 at Saugus Town Hall (298 Central St), Saugus, MA. The event is a Memorial Day weekend run and walk held in memory of a fallen service member killed in action in Ramadi, Iraq. Distances offered include:
- 5K
- 10K
- 1 Mile Walk
- Kids Fun Run (Under 10)
Course and logistics
The 5K and 10K courses combine flat sections and rollers with one notable climb. All distances follow routes that intersect and split at different points. Fuel stops will offer water and electrolytes. Strollers and dogs are welcome. The Kids Fun Run is approximately 1/4 mile, targeted for ages 10 and under, and finishes under the finish archway on Taylor St. Packet pickup and race day registration are available on race day only at Saugus Center in front of Town Hall. Shirts are guaranteed for participants pre-registered by May 10.
Fees, awards and beneficiary
Fee tiers apply based on registration date; race day fees are higher. The Kids Fun Run includes an event shirt for pre-registered children. The 5K and 10K offer cash prizes for overall top finishers (10K top male/female $150, 5K top male/female $100) and age-group awards across standard age brackets from Under 15 to 80+. Top non-binary finishers are also recognized. One hundred percent of event proceeds are allocated to a memorial scholarship program for high school seniors. The event proceeds rain or shine.
