About the race
Going The Distance for the Salvation Army is a charity community run held at the University of Illinois in Urbana. All proceeds support the Salvation Army, and there is an option to donate without attending the event. The event was originally held in Morton, Illinois and has a counterpart at the University of Illinois organized by Going The Distance in conjunction with the Salvation Army in Champaign.
The event includes a 5K running race with a registration fee of $15. Participants who register before October 16 are guaranteed to receive a Chick Fil A gift card at check in on race day. Race t shirts are not guaranteed for registrations after October 5.
The venue is on the Main Quad near Foellinger Auditorium. Check in is located at the check in table on the east side of the Main Quad by Foellinger Auditorium. The start and finish lines are positioned between the Foreign Languages Building and Foellinger Auditorium. A course map is available and includes mile and kilometer markers and parking information. Restrooms are available inside the Foreign Languages Building and elsewhere on the quad.
