IlliniThon 5K Run/Walk
The IlliniThon 5K Run/Walk is a community sports event held at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). The event takes place on the Main Quad, located at 1401 W Green St in Urbana, Illinois. This race invites participants from the Champaign-Urbana area and the surrounding regions to take part in a 5K distance.
The course is notable for being the first full non-looping route established on the UIUC campus. This design provides runners and walkers with a continuous path through the university grounds rather than repeating multiple laps of the same circuit.
This event serves as a fundraiser for St. John's Children's Hospital in Springfield, Illinois. All proceeds generated from the race are donated to the medical facility. The registration structure includes a base fee, with an optional additional fee for those who wish to receive an official event shirt.
Available distances:
- 5 km
The event coincides with the broader efforts of IlliniThon, an organization dedicated to supporting pediatric healthcare through active community participation. Volunteer opportunities are also available for those who wish to assist with the coordination of the race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
