14th Annual Gobbler 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run
The Gobbler 5K takes place on Thanksgiving morning at Jay B Starkey Park in New Port Richey, Florida. This annual event, hosted by First Christian Academy, utilizes the paved paths of the park for various distances. All proceeds from the race are used to support local students at First Christian Academy.
The event offers three participation options:
- 5K: A chip-timed running race through the park.
- 1 Mile Fun Run: A shorter course for participants of all ages.
- Virtual 5K Race: An option for those participating remotely.
The 5K race features an airhorn start for competitive runners. Participants in the 5K and the 1 Mile Fun Run receive a poly dry-fit t-shirt, a backpack, and a finisher's medal. Trophies are awarded to the top three finishers in each age group for the 5K distance. To guarantee a specific shirt size, participants must complete their online registration by early November.
The venue at Jay B Starkey Park includes music and onsite vendors. The course is open to runners, walkers, and those using jogging strollers. Well-behaved pets on leashes are also permitted. The start and finish lines are located near the Educational Center and Information Kiosk within the park. Participants park in the fields at the park entrance and walk to the central race area.
