Go Fish 5K & Kids' Color Run
The event is a community run and family activity in East Dundee, Illinois, centered at Immanuel Lutheran Church and the adjacent school property. The main run/walk is an out and back course on the Fox River Bike Path, beginning and finishing at the church parking lot. The event welcomes families and community members; strollers are allowed and pets and bicycles are not permitted on the course.
A separate kids color run takes place on school grounds. That course is about a half mile and is not timed. Color powder throwers monitor the children on the course. Organizers ask that children consider wearing clear glasses or sunglasses to protect their eyes. Color run participants receive a white 5K t shirt; family 5K registrations include a gray kids shirt unless extra shirts are ordered.
Post event activities include games, face painting, and bouncy houses, and the affiliated school PTA hosts a pancake breakfast. Awards are given to the fastest individuals and the fastest families. The event began in 2012 with the goal of encouraging activity, and all proceeds benefit the Fish Food Pantry of Carpentersville.
