Event details
The Glow the Distance 5k is an after-dark 5K on November 15, 2025, on the Gardner-Webb University campus. The event is sponsored by the GWU Department of Physician Assistant Studies and features glow stations, music, and post-race activities for children and families. Costumes and glow gear are encouraged; organizers will provide "glow-in-the-dark" spray paint and a limited supply of washable tattoos, bracelets, and glasses at check-in. A free Kids Glow Dash for ages 10 and under follows the 5K.
Safety notes state this is a night course; participants should watch footing, stay visible, and follow volunteer instructions. Reflective clothing and headlamps are recommended. The start and finish are located at the front parking lot of the College of Health Sciences, 315 W College Ave, Boiling Springs, NC 28017.
Registration, fees, awards, and charity
General registration is listed at $25, with special rates of $20 for Gardner-Webb faculty and staff, $15 for students, and a $12 option for T-shirt only. Registration closes November 14, 2025. To guarantee a T-shirt and preferred size, register by October 23, 2025. Packet pickup and on-site registration are available on race day.
Awards include Top 3 Overall Male and Female, top finishers in age groups (10 & under; 11–14; 15–19; 20–24; 25–29; 30–39; 40–49; 50–59; 60+), and Best Overall Glow Costume. Net proceeds after expenses will support the Bulldog Cares Fund, which provides emergency financial support to students. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
