Event Overview

This event is held on Global Running Day in Alexandria, Virginia. The race distances are a 5k and a 10k. Both start and finish near Port City Brewing on Wheeler Avenue.

Course Details

The route is described as "fairly flat" and primarily paved. A small section at the start uses a light gravel path. The 10k course is an out-and-back route run twice. The course runs along Holmes Run.

Runner Information

Registered runners receive several items: a finisher medal, a technical event shirt, and a glass of beer from Port City Brewing. The event is chip-timed. Results are posted live online and a QR code is available at the race for immediate viewing. A virtual run option is available for those who cannot attend on race day.

Awards are given to the top three overall male and female finishers. Age group awards are also presented for first and second place in categories from 19 & Under to 70+. The overall winners are not eligible for age group awards.

Support & Amenities

For the 10k, there are five water stations; for the 5k, there are two. Some stations may offer Gatorade. Restrooms are located at Port City Brewing. A large parking lot is available across the street from the brewery.

Registration & Policies

Registration is available on race day, with a fee increase. T-shirt sizes for race-day registrants are not guaranteed. The event has a no-banditing policy.
