Gladstone 9 Fell Race
The Gladstone 9 is a fell race held at The Gladstone, Ysgubor Wen Road, Dwygyfylchi near Penmaenmawr (LL34 6PS, GR SH729772). The course is about 14.5 km / 9 mi with approximately 855 m / 2805 ft of ascent and is partially waymarked.
The route crosses upland moorland and open fell with largely rough tracks and runnable off‑track sections. Terrain can include occasional moderate exposure and hazards, and the route reaches up to roughly 600 m in height. Competent navigation and mountain skills are required; local knowledge is beneficial and previous fell running experience is expected. There is a cut off at CP2; exact details will be published nearer the event. Escape routes exist in places but retiring or injured runners may face difficulty in some sections. Weather can change rapidly and may significantly affect conditions.
Entry is limited to 100 places and fees are shown as £9 online (£7 for WFRA members) or £11 on the day if places remain. Entry includes refreshments at the venue and electronic timing. Minimum age is over 18, with consideration given to experienced 16 and 17 year olds during the online entry process.
Travel notes advise using public transport where possible; Penmaenmawr train station is about a ten minute walk from the Gladstone. Organisers request car sharing, careful parking, and consideration for cyclists. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
