5K Celebration
Girls on the Run Western Massachusetts presents an end of season celebratory 5K on Saturday, November 14, 2026 at Western New England University in Springfield, MA. The event marks the conclusion of the program season and gives participants a tangible sense of accomplishment. Every registered GOTR participant who completes the 5K receives a commemorative medal.
The course is 3.1 miles and the event is presented as a fun, non competitive celebration. While some participants complete the course in about 25 minutes, most finish in 30 to 50 minutes. The event is accessible for people with disabilities; participants can walk, run, push, or roll at their own pace and designated parking spots are available. All participants must wear a race bib and are paired with a 5K buddy for support during the course.
Organizers expect around 3,000 attendees and recommend allowing extra time for parking and walking to the event area. Campus parking is available and parking volunteers will direct vehicles to open areas. Merchandise will be sold at a merch tent and organizers accept cash, checks, credit card, and Venmo. Registration fees listed for general entry are Early Bird $25 and Day of Registration $30; program participants and coaches are already registered and do not need to register. Liability waivers are required for all registrants.
Volunteers support many event roles including set up and tear down, registration, course marshals, 5K buddies, water stations, cheer stations, and pre event activities. Council appointed volunteers undergo a background check and volunteers help implement the council safety plan that includes course monitoring and trained response procedures.
