5K Celebration : Confidence through Accomplishment
This end-of-season, celebratory 5K takes place on Saturday, November 14, 2026, at Western New England University in Springfield, MA. The event is the closing activity for Girls on the Run Western Massachusetts programs and provides participants a tangible sense of completion. Program participants who finish the course receive a commemorative medal.
Registration options listed for community participants include an Early Bird fee of $25 and a Day of Registration fee of $30. Program participants and coaches are already registered through the council and do not need to register separately. Liability waivers are part of all registration forms, and family or community members who wish to participate must register.
The event is presented as noncompetitive. Typical finish times range from about 25 minutes for the fastest participants to 30–50 minutes for most; participants may walk, run, roll, push, or skip at their own pace. Safety measures include required race bibs, assignment of a 5K buddy to run alongside each program participant, course monitoring, and a council safety plan that trains staff and volunteers. The council notes the course is accessible for people with disabilities and that designated parking is available. Organizers expect around 3,000 people and list Lots 22 and 33 off University Drive for parking. Merchandise will be available at a tent, with multiple payment methods accepted. Volunteers assist with set-up, registration, course marshals, 5K buddies, water and cheer stations, and pre-event activities; volunteers appointed through the council undergo a background check.
