Western Mass 10

The Western Mass 10 is scheduled for Sunday, November 1, 2026 and is presented by Trinity Health Of New England Orthopedics. The event includes multiple race formats that run between Amherst and Northampton during peak fall foliage season.

  • 10 Mile: point to point from UMass Amherst to Northampton
  • NoHo 5K: relatively flat lollipop course starting and finishing in downtown Northampton
  • 2 Person Relay: exchange at the 5 mile point

The 10 mile course begins on the UMass Amherst campus and passes through downtown before following the Norwottuck Trail, a paved bike trail with a net downhill elevation and views of the Holyoke Range and the Connecticut River Valley. The route crosses the Connecticut River on the Northampton Lattice Truss Bridge and finishes downtown at the historic Union Station.

Participants in the 10 mile race, both individuals and 2 person relay teams, receive a custom finisher medal and a long sleeve technical shirt. 5K participants receive a short sleeve technical shirt. A post race party takes place after the finish and includes food and beer.

The event is part of broader weekend and series opportunities, including the Tri State Triple series. The charity partner for this event is Girls On The Run Western MA, which uses running based curricula to support girls in being joyful, healthy, and confident.
