Girls on the Run South Georgia Coastal Lowcountry 5K Celebration
The event is an end of season, celebratory 5K (3.1 miles) for Girls on the Run South Georgia Coastal Lowcountry held on November 7, 2026 at Georgia Southern University Armstrong Campus in Savannah. The 5K serves as the closing event for program teams and gives participants a tangible sense of accomplishment. Every registered participant who completes the course receives a commemorative medal.
The event includes a festival atmosphere with activities such as face painting, temporary tattoos, happy hair stations, water stations, and a merchandise booth. Family members and community participants may join but must register separately from program participants. Registration pricing is listed in two tiers: an early bird rate of $20 through September 13 and a general rate of $25 from September 14 through November 7. Program participants and coaches have already been registered by the council and do not need to register.
Safety and accessibility measures are in place. Every participant must wear a race bib and has a running buddy. The council monitors the course, conducts head counts, and maintains a safety plan for staff and volunteers. The course is accessible to people who walk, roll, push, or run. Volunteer roles include course marshals, water station attendants, parking support, photographers, activity station helpers, and course cheerleaders; volunteers appointed through the council undergo a background check.
