Girls on the Run South Central Wisconsin 5K Celebration
The event is a celebratory 5K that concludes the Girls on the Run season and gives program participants a tangible sense of accomplishment. The course length is 3.1 miles and the event is scheduled for Saturday, November 7, 2026, at the Waunakee Village Center in Waunakee, Wisconsin. The council expects around 2,000 attendees and notes that parking and traffic can be heavy on event day.
Registration is open to the public; program participants and coaches are already registered through their teams. Published registration windows and fees are: Early Bird September 11 to October 18 ($35), General October 19 to November 3 ($40), and Day-of registration on November 7 ($45). Registered participants receive a t-shirt, an official bib with pins, a finisher medal, sponsor giveaways, finish-line snacks, and free downloads of professional 5K photos.
Packet pick up varies by registration type and role. Coaches distribute shirts and bibs to team members at practice the week before the event. Running Buddies who registered early may receive packets from coaches; other running buddies can pick up packets at the council office in Madison on specified dates or at the event morning. The course and event materials such as maps and guides will be provided in English and Spanish.
The event is described as accessible for people with disabilities, allows strollers, does not allow dogs, permits spectators without registration, and operates rain or shine unless severe weather requires cancellation. Volunteers and SoleMates fundraiser participants are part of the event structure. Safety procedures include council-issued bibs with emergency contact information and a safety plan developed with local emergency management.
