About the race
Girls on the Run South Central Wisconsin holds a season-closing celebratory 5K at the Waunakee Village Center on Saturday, November 7, 2026. The event brings Girls on the Run teams from across the region together for a non-competitive 5K (3.1 miles) that aims to give program participants a tangible sense of accomplishment; every participant receives a commemorative finisher medal.
The council anticipates about 2,000 attendees and notes that the event is open to the public. GOTR participants and coaches are already registered through their teams and do not need separate registration. Running Buddies and community runners must register; registration windows and fees are published for early, general, and day-of entries. Packet pick-up is handled through teams and through the council office or at the event for remaining packets, and GOTR shirts are distributed to participants by coaches during the last week of practice.
The 5K is family-friendly and accessible: participants may walk, run, push, or roll, and designated accessible parking is available. Every participant must wear a council-provided bib with emergency contact information and the council maintains a safety plan developed with local emergency management. The event proceeds rain or shine, subject to delay or cancellation only for severe weather in coordination with local authorities. Merchandise, sponsor giveaways, finish-line snacks, and free downloads of professional photos are available; dogs are not allowed and strollers are permitted.
