Leon County 5K Celebration
The Girls on the Run Panhandle Leon County 5K is an end of season, celebratory event held at Cascades Park near the Korean War Memorial on Suwanee Street on Sunday, November 15, 2026. The event is an untimed 5K (3.1 miles) and is organized to give program participants a tangible sense of accomplishment.
All participants must be registered to run. Program participants and coaches are already registered through the council and do not need to register again. Nonprogram participants can register with early pricing for Running Buddies at $20 until November 12, 2026, and late or same day registration at $25 which does not guarantee a shirt. Every 5K registration includes a T-shirt; program participants receive a program shirt and may purchase an additional 5K shirt if desired. Registrations include liability waivers.
The event emphasizes safety and accessibility. Every participant must wear a bib provided by the council, and the council assigns or confirms a Running Buddy for participants. The course is monitored with head counts and a council safety plan guides staff and volunteers. The event is accessible for people with disabilities, and designated parking is available.
The 5K features festival activities before and after the run and on-course support such as water stations, temporary tattoos, and a happy hair station. Volunteers fill roles including set up and tear down, registration, course marshals, water stations, cheer stations, and running buddies.
