Flagstaff 5K Celebration
The Flagstaff 5K is the end-of-season celebratory event for Girls on the Run Northern Arizona. It takes place at Buffalo Park in Flagstaff, Arizona, and features a noncompetitive 5K (3.1 miles) course that program participants complete at their own pace. The event is described as a fun, celebratory closing that gives participants a tangible sense of accomplishment and builds confidence through completion.
Every girl in the program receives a commemorative medal. All Girls on the Run teams culminate their season with this 5K. Each participant must have a registered adult Running Buddy 18 or older to accompany them for the entire course; Running Buddies, Sparkle Runners, and Community Runners must register in advance because there is no race day registration. Current Girls on the Run program participants are automatically registered for the 5K and do not need to register separately.
Safety measures include race bibs with medical and emergency contact information, course monitoring and head counts, a council safety plan, and limited access to confidential information. The event is accessible for people with disabilities and offers designated parking. Additional on-site activities and services include water stations, face painting, happy hair stations, merchandise for sale, and volunteer-run stations such as course marshals and registration.
