Girls on the Run Minnesota Twin Cities 5K

The KGPCo Girls on the Run Minnesota Twin Cities 5K is a season-closing celebratory 5K held Sunday, November 8, 2026, at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds in Saint Paul, MN. The course is 3.1 miles and runs on fairground roadways, beginning near the Grandstand, weaving through state fair locations, and finishing on Judson Ave.

Registration for general participants opens mid-August for the Fall 2026 event. The standard registration fee is $40 with a pay-what-you-can option. Girls on the Run program participants and coaches are registered automatically and do not need to register separately.

Every girl must have a registered 5K Buddy, an adult 18 or older who runs or walks alongside her. 5K Buddies receive their t-shirt and bib from their team coach on event day and there is no separate packet pick-up. The event is open to runners and walkers of all ages, and participants receive a bib, t-shirt, medal, and post-race food.

To manage more than 3,000 participants the event uses rolling wave starts; wave assignments are provided in October 2026 and teams are asked to arrive about one hour before their wave. Free parking is available in the Como Parking Lots and the Grandstand Lot and ADA parking is provided. Highway 280 near the fairgrounds is closed for construction and traffic congestion is expected on Snelling Avenue.

This non-competitive 5K encourages participants to go at their own happy pace and asks slower runners and walkers to stay to the right. Pets are not allowed on the course or in start and finish areas. A sensory room is available as a quiet space for participants and families, and a semi-private nursing and pumping space is located inside the History and Heritage Center. The event is held rain, snow, or shine; organizers will notify participants if conditions become unsafe. Volunteer shifts and registration open in August 2026 and volunteers 14 years and older are welcome. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
