Girls on the Run Memphis 5K Celebration
The Girls on the Run Memphis 5K Celebration is a seasonal closing event held on Sunday, November 15 at the University of Memphis Alumni Mall. The event brings program teams and the wider community together for a noncompetitive 5K where participants walk, run, roll, or skip at their own pace. The ceremony offers a tangible sense of accomplishment; every participant receives a commemorative 5K medal and a race bib.
Pre- and post-race activities take place on the Alumni Mall and include a Fun Zone with music, games, hair and nail stations, face paint, photo opportunities, and community activity booths. A group warm-up and ceremonial presentations are part of the event schedule. The course and event area are accessible for people with disabilities and designated parking is available in lot 20 near the Brad Martin Student Wellness Center; attendees reach the Alumni Mall via the pedestrian bridge across Walker and Southern.
Registration details note that Girls on the Run program participants and coaches do not need to register for the 5K, while adult runners, youth runners, and registered 5K Buddies must pre-register. The registration fee covers a race bib and the commemorative medal; 5K shirts are not included but are available for purchase and program participants receive shirts through their program. Pets are not allowed. For safety, all participants must wear a race bib and each participant should have a running buddy. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
