Girls on the Run Fall 5K Celebration
The event is a season-closing 5K that gives Girls on the Run program participants a tangible sense of accomplishment. The course is a 5K (3.1 miles) and the event is presented by Dayton Children's Hospital and made possible by Up and Running. It is scheduled for November 14, 2026 at Wright State University, 3640 Colonel Glenn Highway, Dayton, OH 45435.
All program participants receive a commemorative medal and GOTR branded race swag. Program participants and coaches are already registered and do not need to register again. Non-program participants may register; registration prices are listed as $35 for early bird (June 9 to November 7) and $40 for general registration (November 8 to November 14). Free parking is available in Lot 17 and designated accessible parking spots are provided.
The event is described as celebratory rather than competitive. Every participant must wear a race bib. The council assigns a running buddy for each participant; a parent or guardian may serve as a running buddy and this is encouraged. Safety measures include course monitoring, head counts, a safety plan for staff and volunteers, and background checks for volunteers appointed through the council.
Additional on-site features include face painting, water stations, happy hair stations, a merchandise booth, and volunteer roles such as set-up, registration, running buddies, water stations, and inspiration station. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
