About the race
The Girls on the Run DFW 5K is a season-closing, celebratory 3.1-mile event held in Grand Prairie, TX at Lone Star Park on November 14, 2026. Each season ends with this 5K to give program participants a tangible sense of accomplishment; every registered participant who completes the course receives a commemorative medal. The event is presented as a noncompetitive celebration. While some participants finish in about 25 minutes, most cross the line in 30–50 minutes.
Program participants and coaches are automatically registered and do not need to register through the public registration process; Running Buddies, family members, and community participants must register and pay the appropriate fee. Registration pricing for non-program participants is listed by date: $35 until 10/1, $40 until 11/12, and $45 on the event date. Safety and accessibility measures include required race bibs, assigned running buddies, course monitoring, head counts, a council safety plan, and designated accessible parking. The council organizes volunteers for set-up and tear-down, parking, registration, course monitoring, water and cheer stations, finish-line support, and other roles.
The event may take place as a site-based 5K at team practice locations, as participation in an external community 5K, or as a virtual 5K completed at a location chosen by participants.
