Monterey 5K Celebration
Girls on the Run Central Coast holds a season closing celebratory 5K on Saturday, November 14, 2026, at First Tee - Monterey County in Salinas, CA. The event marks the end of the program season and brings participants, coaches, family and community members together for a festival and a non-competitive 5K course.
The 5K course covers 3.1 miles. The event emphasizes a sense of accomplishment; all program participants receive a commemorative medal. Participants are encouraged to complete the course at their own pace by walking, running, rolling, pushing or skipping, and many finish between roughly 30 and 50 minutes while the fastest finishers complete the course in about 25 minutes.
Safety and accessibility measures are in place. Every participant must wear an event race bib. The council provides running buddies for participants, monitors the course with head counts, and trains staff and volunteers on emergency procedures. The event is described as accessible for people with disabilities and includes designated parking.
Program participants and coaches are registered through the council and do not need to register separately. Family, friends and community members may participate but must register and sign a liability waiver. Standard registration fees listed for the event include $35 for community runners age 13 and older, $25 for youth community runners age 12 and under, and $35 for running buddies age 16 and older.
