Girl Scout Island Ultra
Girl Scout Island Ultra is an ultramarathon event held on Rose Dhu Island in Savannah, Georgia, organized by Run 4 a Reason. The event weekend runs from 11/20/26 to 11/22/26 and proceeds support the Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia and Camp Low.
Race options are offered over looped courses and include:
- Feathers 10k
- 50k
- 50k Relay (teams of 2 to 5)
- 100k
- 100 miles
The course is a measured 6.25 mile trail loop. It is described as non technical and mostly flat with occasional roots. The loop passes cabins and elevated perches, making personal aid access easier for those renting on the island.
The event is chip timed. Lap counts are one lap for the 10k, five laps for the 50k, ten laps for the 100k, and sixteen laps for the 100 mile. A 32 hour race time cap applies to all distances.
There is one aid station that operates cupless; runners must carry their own hydration vessels. Aid offerings include Girl Scout cookies and GU Roctane hydration mix. A registered nurse will staff the medical tent for minor injuries and an AED will be on site. Designated private breastfeeding accommodations and feminine products are available at medical.
Camping and lodging options are available through the Girl Scouts for a fee including cabins, platforms, showers, and restrooms. Primitive or vehicle camping is permitted for ultradistance participants with prior notification. RVs are not allowed. Pacers must register, sign a waiver, and wear a pacer bib; pacers are permitted after 50 miles for the 100k and 100 mile, with exceptions for older or pregnant runners after 30 miles. Failure to follow stated rules may result in disqualification. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
