Girl Scout Island Ultra - Savannah, GA
Girl Scout Island Ultra is a multi-distance ultramarathon held on Rose Dhu Island at Camp Low in Savannah, Georgia. The event takes place over a race weekend and includes a lap-based course measured at 6.25 miles per loop. The race uses chip timing and has a race time cap of 32 hours for all distances.
Distances offered:
- 100 miles (16 laps)
- 100k (10 laps)
- 50k (5 laps)
- 50k relay (teams of 2 to 5; one runner completes each 10k loop)
- 10k (1 lap)
The course is described as non-technical and flat with occasional roots. There is one aid station on course; the event is cupless so runners must carry their own hydration vessels. Aid station offerings include hydration mix and Girl Scout cookies; those with strict allergies are advised to bring their own food. A registered nurse and an AED will be on site for minor medical needs; no analgesics will be provided.
Camping and on-site lodging are available through the Girl Scouts for a fee; primitive or vehicle camping is free for ultra participants with prior notice to the Race Director. Packet pickup and a pre-race dinner are scheduled during the event weekend. Proceeds support the Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia and Camp Low.
