Palmetto Bluff Buffalo Run
The Palmetto Bluff Buffalo Run takes place in Bluffton, South Carolina, across the 20,000-acre Palmetto Bluff Conservancy. The event features an all-trail course that passes through ancient maritime forests. Participants run on a combination of single track, dirt, and gravel roads shaded by trees, with some sections containing mud.
The event offers several distances and categories for individual athletes and teams:
- 10K trail run or walk
- 30K trail run
- 30K Relay for 3-person teams
- 50K ultra trail run
- 50K Relay for 5-person teams
This is a cup-free race. While water stations are provided along the course, participants must bring their own hydration bottles. For the longer distances, 50K runners and relay teams have access to a designated staging area where they may set up pop-up canopy tents and tables for support teams. Hydration and fuel stations are located midway through the course and at the finish line.
Participants who register before December 1st receive a long-sleeve shirt. Finishers in the 10K, 30K, and 50K categories receive medals, while individual 50K finishers also receive a specific Buffalo Head award. Overall first-place male and female finishers in each race, as well as the top relay teams, are presented with Bronze Buffalo awards. The event concludes with an after-party featuring live music and refreshments. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
