Girdwood Marathon 2026
The event takes place on October 3, 2026 at the Alyeska Daylodge in Girdwood, Alaska. The races use many local trails through the temperate rain forest and resort terrain, with multiple creek crossings and wet sections typical for October.
Distances offered:
- 26.2 miles Full Marathon
- 13.1 miles Half Marathon
- 13.1 miles Juniors Half Marathon
- 5 km 5K Trails Race
The course uses named trails including Winner Creek Trail, Upper/Middle/Lower Iditarod Trails, Nordic 5K Loop, Athabascan Trail, California Creek Trail, Beaver Pond Trail, Bird-to-Gird Path, Alyeska Bike Path, and resort mountain trails including the Kettle Pond Trail. Start and finish are at the Alyeska Daylodge. Five aid stations are planned: Alyeska Daylodge; Nordic 5K Loop / Winner Creek Trail connection; Middle Iditarod Trail at USFS parking lot; Crow Creek Rd at California Creek Trailhead; and Bird-to-Gird Path Trailhead. Aid stations will offer snacks, water, and pitchers to fill hydration packs.
Organizers state there are no refunds and no bib transfers. The marathon has a cutoff of 4.5 hours at the Crow Creek Rd aid station. Participants are expected to carry their own water and bear spray as needed for wildlife. Parking, restrooms, and gear storage are available. Proceeds benefit the Girdwood Nordic Ski Club for trail grooming and maintenance. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
