Gila 100 - October 17-18, 2026
The Gila 100 is a trail running event in Silver City, New Mexico, organized by Gila Endurance Runs. The event weekend includes two race distances that run into the Gila National Forest and feature remote backcountry terrain.
The course includes miles on the Continental Divide Trail and reaches toward 9,000 feet elevation. Runners encounter a range of environments from high desert hills into ponderosa pine forest, with long scenic stretches and sections described as rugged but runnable. The route begins a few miles east of Silver City near historic Fort Bayard before entering the Gila backcountry.
Support on course includes well-stocked aid stations with hydration, nutrition, and additional snacks or food at key locations. Participants should expect remote sections with significant temperature swings between warm days and cooler nights. The event is presented as a grassroots effort with local volunteers and a small-town finish atmosphere.
