Get Ready! Get Set! Get Fit! 5K Run/Walk and One-Mile Walk : overview
The event takes place on the CCBC Essex campus in Rosedale, Maryland, and includes in-person and virtual options. It features a timed 5K run/walk and a one-mile walk, with the entire in-person route on campus. The event supports older adult health by raising funds for county senior exercise classes and fitness centers and coincides with National Senior Center Month, National Falls Prevention Day and Active Aging Week.

On-site services and features include free fall prevention and health and fitness screenings, vendor tables and displays, water on course and at the finish line, post-race refreshments, and door prize drawings including Fitness Pays VISA gift cards (one $200 and three $100), sponsored by Van Dyke and Bacon Shoes. A complimentary technical long-sleeve moisture-wicking t-shirt is guaranteed for up to the first 1,100 registered; sizes and availability are not guaranteed for day-of registration.
The in-person 5K is timed and professionally managed. Parking is assigned by event to specific lots on the CCBC Essex campus. For safety, the course is closed to animals, bicycles, skaters and baby joggers or strollers. The event proceeds rain or shine. Medals are awarded to top finishers in the 5K by gender and by age categories; virtual performances are not eligible for event awards.
