Event Overview
The Geo Foundation Annual 5K Run & 1 Mile Walk takes place at Brookdale Park in Bloomfield, New Jersey. The event includes a timed 5K run and an untimed option for a 1-mile walk.
Course Details
The 5K course consists of roughly three laps around the park, with the start and finish lines accurately marked. Participants in the 1-mile walk complete one lap of the same park loop. Runners start their race first, followed by walkers.
Awards and Recognition
Awards are presented for female and male participants across multiple age groups: 11-13, 14-16, 17-21, 22-28, 29-39, 40-50, 51-61, and 62+. Special awards are given to all participants aged 10 and under.
Post-Race Amenities
Food and refreshments are available at the beginning and end of the event, including bagels, bananas, oranges, and post-race acai bowls.
About the Organizer
The Geo Foundation honors George "Geo" Batikha and supports youth and young adults diagnosed with cancer. Proceeds from the event fund two programs: a Community Fund for scholarships in several local high schools and a Family Assistance Fund for families with a child undergoing cancer treatment at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
