Event Overview
The Geaux Bald 5K & 10K is a student-led charity race organized by second-year medical students at LSU Health Shreveport. Founded in 2011, it supports local cancer patients and their families by easing financial and logistical burdens. The race proceeds directly fund the restoration of the McDade House, a hospitality home that will provide low- or no-cost lodging for patients receiving care at the Feist-Weiller Cancer Center.
Event Details
The race takes place at A.C. Steere Park on Youree Drive in Shreveport. The event includes a 5k and a 10k run/walk, as well as a "Phantom Runner" registration option for supporters who cannot attend.
Registration fees are:
- 5k: $25 through January 31, 2026; $30 from February 1 through race day.
- 10k: $30 through January 31, 2026; $35 from February 1 through race day.
- Phantom Runner: $25.
Packet pickup is scheduled at Sportspectrum on Fern Avenue in Shreveport on the Thursday and Friday before the race. Packets will also be available at the race site on the morning of the event. Registration by February 18, 2026, is required to guarantee a t-shirt size.
Awards
Awards are presented to the overall male and female winners and runners-up in both the 5k and 10k. Age group awards are given for 1st and 2nd place male and female in the following categories: 19-under, 20–29, 30–39, 40–49, 50–59, 60–69, and 70+. An award is also given for the largest team.
