Event Overview
The GCTC Rocket Man Run 5K & Fun Walk is a running event held on Saturday, August 22, 2026. It takes place at the Gordon Cooper Technology Center main campus, located at One John C. Bruton Blvd. in Shawnee, Oklahoma.
Distances
The event offers two distances:
- 5K Run
- 1 Mile Fun Walk
Course & Timing
The 5K course is an out-and-back route featuring inclines and hills. Participants in the 5K run will be professionally chip-timed, with their official finish time calculated from the moment they cross the start and finish lines. Fun Walk participants will not be timed. Race results will be posted on the event website within 24 hours of the conclusion of the race.
Participant Information
The registration cost for both the 5K run and the Fun Walk is $30, plus online processing fees. Participants who register by August 1st at 11:59 PM are guaranteed a short-sleeved cotton t-shirt. Registrations after that time are not guaranteed a shirt.
Packet pickup is available the day before the event on Friday, August 22nd, from 3:30 PM to 6:00 PM at the Marty Lewis Public Safety Center on the GCTC main campus.
Awards & Amenities
The top 25 overall finishers in the 5K run will receive a commemorative medal upon crossing the finish line. Refreshments will be available for participants after the race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
